§ 5.13.030. Permit requirements and enforcement.

  • A permit shall be required for all events, privileged activities, special event alcohol or special activity alcohol as set forth in this chapter. In addition:

    (1)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to register participants, sell or give away tickets to a special event without first having submitted a completed special event permit application to the city in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

    (2)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to undertake, conduct, operate, maintain or manage a special event without first having obtained a special event permit from the city in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, unless exempt from the permit requirement.

    (3)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to register participants, sell or give away tickets to a special activity without first having submitted a completed special activity permit application to the city in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

    (4)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to undertake, conduct, operate, maintain or manage a special activity without first having obtained a special activity permit from the city in accordance with the provisions of this chapter unless exempt from the permit requirement.

    (5)

    Attention is called to the fact that other laws may be applicable and other licenses and permits may be required. For example, a special event occurring in a park will also require a park permit pursuant to Reno Municipal Code Chapter 8.23 to ensure that there are no conflicting events and staff are aware of the event and all events will be subject to criminal laws and park regulations in chapter 8.23.
