§ 6.30.460. Parking meters.

  • It shall be unlawful and a violation of this chapter subject to a civil fine and penalties as set forth in section 6.30.620 of the Reno Municipal Code for any person:

    (a)

    To cause, allow, permit or suffer any vehicle registered in the name of, or operated by such person to be parked overtime, or beyond the period of legal parking time established for any parking meter district as herein described, or to transact with any parking meter any payment for the purpose of parking beyond the maximum legal parking time for the particular designated space in a parking meter district.

    (b)

    To park any vehicle across any line or marking of a parking meter space or in such position that the vehicle shall not be entirely within the area designated by such lines or markings.

    (c)

    To permit any vehicle to remain or be placed in any parking space adjacent to any parking meter, or traffic-control signage indicating metered parking, while said meter is indicating that the vehicle occupying such parking space has already been parked beyond the period prescribed for such parking space.

    (d)

    To deface, injure, tamper with, open or willfully break, destroy, or impair the usefulness of any parking meter, or traffic-control signage indicating metered parking, under the provisions of this chapter.

    (e)

    To transact or cause to be transacted in any parking meter any slug, device or metal substance, or other substitute for lawful payment.
