§ 6.18.200. Application; service charge.

  • (a)

    Application for a bicycle license shall be made to the chief of police or his designated representative. A service charge of $5.00 shall be paid before each license is issued. The funds collected for each bicycle license shall be apportioned as follows:

    (1)

    One dollar shall be retained by the retailer to cover the time and cost of record keeping.

    (2)

    One dollar shall be paid to the City of Reno to cover the cost of maintaining the list of registered owners.

    (3)

    Three dollars shall be deposited into a special account, with the funds to be used exclusively for bicycle route and land improvements, public education about bicycles and other bicycle-related purposes.

    (b)

    At least every two weeks, on the tenth and the twenty-fifth of the month, the retailer shall submit a copy of the list of licensees to the Reno Police Department. The department will use this listing to identify stolen bicycles to the owners. Four dollars for every license issued shall be delivered to the City of Reno on the tenth of every month.

    (c)

    The chief of police may, from time to time, authorize free bicycle registration for students enrolled in Reno schools up to and including the eighth grade.
