§ 6.06.720. Careless driving.

  • It is unlawful for any person to drive or operate a vehicle of any kind or character in a careless manner within the city on a street, highway, alley or premises to which the public has access; or in other than a careful or prudent manner; or at a rate of speed greater than is reasonable and proper, having due regard for the traffic on, and the surface and width of the street or highway; or at such a rate of speed as to endanger the life, limb or property of a person; provided further that the mere fact that a vehicle is operated within the speed restrictions contained in this chapter will not constitute prima facie evidence that the vehicle was operated in a lawful manner.
